We had to keep the momentum going! So, up bright and early (to beat the California Central Valley summer time heat!) the next day to kick out those last two walls.
New strategy for the second long, 24-foot wall – with the first two walls up, it would have been difficult to run the lines to use the truck as an anchor again, so we re-evaluated (okay, Eli, the ideas guy, re-evaluated). With how easy it was to raise the short wall, we decided to cut our second long wall into two “short wall” sections. We assembled each half separately, making them much more manageable for getting upright. This did turn out to have some challenges of its own, but all in all was a good choice and went – mostly – smoother and easier than the raising of the first long wall.
Just one more to go! We were now a fluid team at this, so despite the inability to put this final wall on the trailer before moving to upright (the other walls were now in the way), we barely had time to realize we were completing the “outline” of our tiny house before the wall was up and the frame was complete!
And, with that, this house is now a visceral entity! It isn’t just in our minds or model, anymore. Here it is being created. We really are building our Hygge Hale!
