Clean and tidy surroundings are instrumental in the pleasant and peaceful existence I crave. There’s nothing like the feeling of ease and serenity I experience when I sit down in a freshly groomed home.
However — I have to be careful not to clean existence away. Put that dusting cloth down.
Now, I’d like time to be limitless, but my days keep moving along and the seasons keep surprising me with their quick progression, one to the next. And, sometimes I realize the minutes of those days in my life that have not been spent at my job are dominated by keeping things orderly and spotless. I don’t want to look back over my life and only see endless hours of cleaning in my non-work life. So, sometimes I need to just let the carpets keep collecting flotsam and allow the dirty clothes to pile up. Not an easy thing for me, but I’ve been cultivating a tolerance for an imperfect space. For there are books to be read, family to chat with, blue skies to be seen, and adventures to be had!
